My PS3 plan is on hold too,. powerfull console but most games run&look very good on the PC,. ibe missing out on a decent Blu-ray player though,. :( and offcourse FFXIII but the game won't be here in the next year,.

I've not installed 32-bit OS in a long time, and don't plan to. And 7 works with 4+GB RAM, so that's not an issue. By the time I get about buying the parts, 7 will probably have another release or two out. As for the motherboard, yes the Asus one is cheap and efficient, but again, new stuff is likely to be out by then. I can't think of a date earlier than June in any case.
I was seriously saving up for the PS3. Wanted to get that Advent Children Edition (160 GB + FFXIII Demo <which will be like 12 hours or so>+ Advent Children Blu Ray), but like the lappy, PS3 takes a backseat against the PC.
