So due to reasons not really worth mentioning, my Cooler Master 600 sorta died. So that basically means that I am left without a power source for my PC.
Its about a year and a half old, so I may still be able to claim warranty on it (which will at the very least, be a lot cheaper than buying a new PSU).
However, if it should happen that I can't claim the warranty (as I can't seem to find the receipt of purchase, and am not sure whether I registered the thing at the time of purchase), I may have to consider getting a new PSU. I am thinking of a Tagan BZ 700W.
However, I am begining to think that m PC is severly cursed as not 3 months pass that I don't have to change something. That said, I am contemplating giving up on the PS3 plans and saving up for a new build. Haven't given it mush thought, but its at best it will be a i7 920, 4-6GB RAM, 1-1.5TB Hdd, A decent Graphics card etc...
So any suggestions which PSU will be able to take all that in the coming time?
I personally think that a 700W PSU will be sufficient as I don't run SLI/ Crossfire, OC too much etc... But any brand etc?
I just got a 600W coolermaster,. more then enough for Sli, 6 hard-drive:\'s, 6fan's, 1dvd-player.
-No need for 4gig ram if you gonne install 32bit win,.
-asus pt6 motherboard is very good! and cheap for x58!!
My PS3 plan is on hold too,. powerfull console but most games run&look very good on the PC,. ibe missing out on a decent Blu-ray player though,. :( and offcourse FFXIII but the game won't be here in the next year,.

Yeah... that was the reason I got the 600 at that time. I am pretty sure I'll not be running SLI / Crossfire. So that is the reason I'll stick to the cheaper 600-700 W PSUs. However, which brand?
In my experience, a electronic device is never the same after it has been repaired. So it unlikely the my Cooler Master will give me the same performance again.
I think the actual comparison would be between BZ700 and CM 600.

I've not installed 32-bit OS in a long time, and don't plan to. And 7 works with 4+GB RAM, so that's not an issue. By the time I get about buying the parts, 7 will probably have another release or two out. As for the motherboard, yes the Asus one is cheap and efficient, but again, new stuff is likely to be out by then. I can't think of a date earlier than June in any case.
I was seriously saving up for the PS3. Wanted to get that Advent Children Edition (160 GB + FFXIII Demo <which will be like 12 hours or so>+ Advent Children Blu Ray), but like the lappy, PS3 takes a backseat against the PC.
I thought CM PSUs were regarded as pretty good. Don't go for cheap ones if you want reliability. You don't need 600W, unless you're planning to use SLI/Crossfire (includes those two graphics cards in one cards). I believe V1 has a GTX295 which is two cards in one, not to mention that the GTX cards use quite a lot of power and it's running fine on 600W.
For you, 500W is probably way more than enough. An 380W PSU could easily power my machine (Core2 Q6600, RadeonHD 4670) so giving plenty of leeway for higher powered GPUs, 500W is plenty, just get one made by a reputable brand.
What GPU do you have in mind?
Did yours make a bang sound and blow up like mine did, or did it die quietly...

The gtx you have to connect with 1x 8pins and 1x 6pins to the psu, and yes for Sli 600WATT is ok!

That one...
I agree that even 600W is sort of pushing it, but Its better to go for it anyways.

At this moment, the 4580 is what I am looking at. That or the GTX260, if I extend the budget. If the prices of the 4780 or the GTX 295 come down, then I may consider them accordingly.
@ V1.. LOL!!!

I don't know. I wasn't at home. When I returned, I was told that there was a whining noise and some burning smell... So I guess that is what happened. No one saw it.
Like V1, I leave my PC on almost 24 hours.
