Assuming you kill every encounter you see there's no need to grind at all except when grinding to face Garland (Usually you'll want to be at level 4 - 6) and for money because of those annoying Elven magic stores.

yeah i have watched that anime, but the animation is so cheap, but the cg renditions there are good, hope that it was put in cg so that some viewers can enjoy an ff title even its a tv show, lol

CG renderings usually look out of place in anime and as a result they look silly.
