RE: How much would you give for the ability to use magic?
Well, it also depends on how clever you become with the objects you can move. If it is a matter of weight, then you could stand near a bank, and move the cash little at a time slowly away from where ever it is being counted, or you could make it fly away, through the door, and outside, while everyone is wondering how it happened or something. Go pick it up later, since you know where you sent it. That was just a single "creative" instance that directly involves money. Or you could do other similar things with small objects that have huge value behind them (instant lotto tickets, diamonds, etc). Also, how fast could you make them go? Perhaps you could make a small diamond in a jewelry store go so fast that it breaks whatever is encasing it?
Do you have to see the item immediately? Or can you picture it, if it is within a certain distance of you? If so, you could offer your help to an organization, to 'borrow' secrets of their competition that may be written down? Or perhaps you got someone to tell you what to be looking for, and you moved it yourself, from outside the HQ, until you got it outside. Those are all just dishonest ways, though
What about all the mischief you could cause? Make a bikini come off a cute girl, or perhaps do funny things to annoy a professor? I think if I knew more about the restrictions of the power, as well as the exact privileges, it'd be more obvious about the choice. However, I'd almost certainly spend like 10 years of intense study if it would allow me to have a relatively restricted use of the power. If unrestricted, I'd probably do more, as long as I can see progress along the way.
