RE: Wii Modchip question
Tetris999 Wrote:that's interesting, so what differentiates the D2Pro from the D2Pro V4C is just that little part at the top?
So if i did buy that (and solder it), it would just turn into a 9 wire?
also, do i need the programmer to upgrade it? Shouldn't the normal firmware still work to at least let me upgrade it via dvd? or will it not work at all? (i know WHY i have to use the usb programmer, im just asking IF it can still be upgraded via dvd?)
In either case, you really helped my problem; thanks a lot
@Yoyo: Im going to try posting there; thanks for the advice :)
Yep, the part at the top is used for the spi instead of having extra wires. It would be ready to be a 9 wire when you buy that spi and solder it.
You should still need the programmer. It will have firmware meant only for the d2pro, not the d2pro9. The d2pro9 is the only one that can be upgraded by dvd. You need to at least have v1.1b to have the dvd functionality. So it won't let you upgrade by dvd yet.
Also minimal upgrades are made by dvd the most important ones are made by flashing the chip with the programmer. The latest version out is 2.1 but I'm still on the 1.1b b/c I have had problems with the 2.1 firmware.
