RE: QuadHD the next thing in TVs
they should focus on making the current ones cheaper on production cost instead.

They'll fall when QHDs rise.

How accurate is that though? I have a 40" in my living room and sitting on my couch 12-15 feet away you can tell instantly when it's running in 480 vs 1080 the second you walk in the room.
You have to also consider that a lot of it is probably due to the content itself rather than the resolution.
I mean you can get your new 1080p anime/movie whatever and go....
BilinearResize(848,480) #bilinear is good and only good for massive downsizes, where sharp resizes like lanczos tend to cause haloing and aliasing.
and compare that with old 480p anime/movies. I bet you the resized stuff will still look a whole lot better than the old stuff.
If you take the same stuff, resize to 480p (it's effectively 480p now), then resize back to 1080p, and play it on your TV, you probably won't be able to tell the difference from that distance.

I will test this, thanks!

Vision varies with people, but I'd be extremely surprised if you can see quality difference above around 576p with that setup.
Some measures:
at 300ppi (about the perceptual limit of the human eye), a 2160p screen would be 14.7in
at 200ppi (about the perceptual limit for a computer screen), 2160p screen would be around 22in
