Sony puts itself as a premium brand so quality should be on the good side, though price may be a little high.
Yeah, those "AI" things rarely work well (referring to that auto song classifier) - AI just kinda sucks in this day and age.

Apart from the clunkiness of the PSP, how does it actually compare to it (ie interface, sound quality)?

but yeah i like how this walkman produce nicer sounds, but i think it my walkman lacks the features of bass sound enhancement technology, does the walkman above have that enhancement?

So that's the difference between them. I saw the two next to each other in the shop but I couldn't work out the difference between them. I just thought they were the same player but of a different capacity.

By "bass sound enhancement" do you mean the EQ? As far as I know all the Walkman MP3 players have a pretty similar EQ setup. 5 bands and a bass boost. I usually don't bother with all these sound enhancements. IMO they're only there to make cheap headphones sound more expensive.

Assassinator Wrote:Heh, the PSP is my MP3 player. Not the best thing in the world for listening to music, but whatever, it works, and I can't be stuffed carrying around more than 1 device (since I carry the PSP around anyway).

I used my PSP as an MP3 player while I was waiting to get a new one. Like you say it does the job but it's not entirely suited to that purpose. The visualisers are nice though...

i think for older models it have bass enhancement technology, but yeah newer walkmans do have enhanced bass.

and yeah psp can't match the sound quality over walkman/ipods, their big difference is the loudness of the sound, psp have minimal loudness unlike for the mp3 players, i have previously listening sounds over psp with Lightmp3 application, to enhance the sound, but when i get a walkman, i only play games on my psp, but still psp got higher resolution for videos so i still watch movies on my psp, hehehe

RE: Hehe, new MP3 player...
Hmm, IDK about you guys' hearing, but PSP on max volume is pretty damn loud for me (using stock PSP in-ear headphones).  I wouldn't go any louder lest I risk ear damage.  Probably only issue I have is with classical music - it's usually too quiet, but the dynamic normaliser usually does the job (if not, I can just edit the track to make it louder)

I know it might be difficult to hear some stuff on a loud bus, but I still wouldn't risk ear damage.  But that's your choice I guess >_>

Regardless, if you haven't tried it, try the Dynamic Normaliser (in sound settings).
I can't test sound quality though, but the PSP doesn't seem to have bad sound quality.

RE: Hehe, new MP3 player...
yeah psp quality is good, but they tend to be volumed down than other mp3 players, and i don't usually use in-ear earphones, i think they are more tend to move rigidly the eardrums because no air was being drawn out from inside the ear, and in-ear earphones irritate my ears and so i can't hear someone talking to me, and yeah listening for a very loud music will damage the ear even you don't use earphones (eg, listening near to a taking off airplane)

and yeah walkmans do also have AVLS and i also use that, :)
