RE: Technology or Spirit powers...
Tech For the win!  After all, my three favorite animes (or mangas) heavily involve technology

1) Battle Angel Alita -- Most everyone in the series is a cyborg, including Alita.

2) Ghost in the Shell -- Cybernetic bodies nearly indistinguishable from real human bodies, awesome hacking skillz, and Tachikomas....'nuff said

3) Fullmetal Alchemist -- ....ok, you're probably thinking to yourself, "You idiot, FMA's alchemy is based on spiritual powers", but keep reading and you'll see I'm right.  Wikipedia describes alchemy in FMA as "one of the most advanced scientific techniques known to man."  Also, Wikipedia defines technology as "a broad concept that deals with an animal species' usage and knowledge of tools and crafts, and how it affects an animal species' ability to control and adapt to its environment."  Therefore, since the characters in FMA use alchemy to control their environment, alchemy in FMA can be considered a form of technology, and NOT spiritual powers.  I WIN.

* Cyonix awaits someone foolish enough to attempt to argue this......
