(maybe it was with a certain motherboard or something)
just something to look at...
also see ati crossfire
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATI_CrossFire
What motherboard do you have?
What processor is on it?
That should affect your decision greatly.
I would stick to ati for amd or nvidia for intel. If not, your bound to run into problems.
My MO is the BIOSTAR TForce TP43D2A7, which support 1 PCI Express 2.0 x16
My CPU is C2D E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz, OC'd to 3.2 (ya! but not on stock cooling)
My current graphics card is Geforce 7200 that's really at age right now (random crashes and not so powerful...)
with pci express I would say nvidia
Ati uses agp so you won't get the most out of it without an agp board
I would still look at what brand your cpu is whether AMD or Intel.
I looked it up and wolfdale is intel so I would probably stick with the nvidia. It looks like the better option. (system compatability wise, I haven't seen the actual cards)
untrue... it produces cards for both PCIe and AGP.
PCIe are essentially Intel boards with onboard nVidia. But u'll also find them on AMD boards with ATI graphics.

RE: nVidia or ATI?
hmm, I didn't know that.
oh well pci-e is dead anyway.
Agp is better.
But I would still say the nvidia card. It is more likely to agree with your processor.
(although I do prefer ati so much more.)

which century are living in?
which AGP are you referring to? Cause PCI-e > AGP.
PCI-e and AGP 8x are similar..

RE: nVidia or ATI?
Ok, I admit I was wrong.
but I would like to give an excuse, and say that I haven't had to build a pc in 4 years.
