Which company is better for graphic cards?

Or more specifically, should I get the Radeon 3870 HD or Geforce 9600 GT?
Radeon bro..best for gaming and photo/video editing.
ATI = video/image editing
NVIDIA = Gaming (since most games are nVidia Optimized)

ATI can be also used for gaming aswell so... w.e.

3870>9600
Stay away from the 9600. If you;re going nVidia, get a 8800 or 9800.
^^
Well I'm not choosing the 9880, kinda over my price range...

If anyone has any experience with the 3870's, how cool is it on stock?
nVidia has a great drawback that has little to with Spec. Its that they seem to release new cards every two weeks, making whatever you buy now, redundant.

ATI is amazing for video editing, but if you can clock it properly, its more potent than the nVidia of the same calibre (and its way cheaper than nVidia)

I think that sums it up.

As for compatibility, no game is optimised for one card. Its just marketing. ATI drivers updates are not that frquent and are a somewhat hefty downloads. but that is besides the point.

One downside is that ATI tend to heat more than nVidia cards and draw more power. But the plus side is that you can tweak significantly with its performance.

he's looking for economy, if he can't buy a 8800, don't expect him to get a 260, let alone a 280
I thought sli doesn't work in vista...
(maybe it was with a certain motherboard or something)

just something to look at...

also see ati crossfire

What motherboard do you have?
What processor is on it?
That should affect your decision greatly.

I would stick to ati for amd or nvidia for intel. If not, your bound to run into problems.
DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME AND AVOID MY MISTAKE NVIDIA
