You're misunderstanding him. He means to just spread your ratings a bit. (i.e. more variance, rather than all clumping on 8, 9 and 10). He's not telling you to dislike stuff.

I wouldn't spread my ratings if was going to make them inaccurate, they are as accurate as they ever have been at this point.

I'd like to see if someone can discuss a rating I have given to an Anime, that they think is overrated.

If then, they point at a flaw that I can agree on, THEN I will decrease my rating of it.

It doesn't work that way, because ratings are subjective.

As an example, I previously argued that the Elfen Lied ending sucks. You think it rocks. I thought the kiminozo ending rocks. You thought it sucks. Wee both had our reasons. Now who is correct? Noone. It's all subjective depending on the view of the reviewer.

There is no absolute "this sucks". It's like asking "do apples taste nice"... well, it depends on the person eating it. There's no definite "yes" or "no" for that question. (It's just that most people would probably say "yes", so if you say "no", you're in the minority group, which is the case wth rating stuff too high).

So I have been arguing the whole time, (spanning like 5 different arguments) that you are optimistic, and tend to think stuff more on the good side than the bad side, and tend to like stuff more than the average person.

You say "I've been lucky enough to have seen some very good anime during the time I've watched Anime" I say it's more accurately "I'm lucky enough to enjoy most of the anime I've watched, though others might not have, for the same anime".

Trying to analyse how you rate stuff is not pointless. Same level of enjoyment doesn't mean same ratings. (You enjoying stuff more could be one reason, but there could also be the reason that you simply overrate). And there's also the variance factor as Zinga mentioned (and I mentioned in the past).

What difference would that make? now it's out of 10. After translating to the stars system, it's still out of 10 (you can use 1/2 star). So effectively the same thing.

So instead of people complaining that you have too many 10/10s, people will complain that you have too many 5 stars.

Clannad, ef - a tale of memories, Elfen Lied, (I'm going to decrease Hanbu No Tsuki Ga Noboru Sora, that was definitely in the heat of the moment), Hokuto no Ken - Raoh Den Gekito no Sho, Kanon and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei all totally deserve their ratings.
