RE: Product Design Sketches
The problem with the GP2X is that it has no official game support. I wanted something similar to XBLA (but better) where big developers release games on a marketplace but little homebrewers can also get in on it and release their own games on the same platform. It would strike a good balance between homebrew and big-name published content. Like on the market place you would see, for example, the release of Unreal Tournament Portable (:P) for $20 in the "big-name" section, while in the Community column next to it you see the release of Colors. (that DS painting program i mentioned last week) I don't know, I'm still working out the kinks in my ideas, but can you see where I'm going with this?

And I never intended it to be a PSP ripoff or something, it's just my dream handheld: music player, PDA, gaming device, and a bit of cell phone, plus a touchscreen.

I think that its a really good idear MG, but there is one thing that you want to remember. I know that your trying to make it homebrew friendly, but that take a little bit of the challenge of trying to crack it to get it to run the homebrew. Kinda one reason why the GP2X never really blew up. At least, that's my opinion. All in all though, I really like the idea. I esspessically like how you can customize everything SAFELY. Kinda like a Sidekick3 Themes. Good Idea

Thanks. And I think the only reason the GP2X never took off is lack of big-name support, and lack of advertising.

I know what you mean, but this device was never intended to be something entirely "new," just a new way of putting all the functions into one portable device. I mean, if you think about it, "new" gets old after a while, especially if it interferes with doing "old" stuff. For example, the iPhone and its touchscreen keyboard make it very hard to type emails or text messages.
