Anyway, I did hear about a range of DVDs called "Armour" or something - apparently meant to be highly resistant to scratching. According to a reviewer, even heavy scratching with a scourer didn't work, though prodding with a screwdriver is what eventually broke it.
Did cost AU$10/DVD though, when DVDs were about AU$1 each.
just burn the same thing 10 times for the same price...they can't ALL get scratched :P:P:P
But they could all rot!!! :O :O :O
By the way, some of my anime discs, the cheapo ones do show signs of disc rot - they've been kept in a case and never touched, but last time I checked a few days ago, the edges have kinda gone away...

So what is the difference between this new storage concerning speed,..
7200rpm harddrives are to slow to keep up with fast pc's,.. if i understand correctly harddrives slow down pc's!?

No.

Harddrives slowing down PCs? It depends on what your doing. For example, video encoding, the CPU is the bottleneck (almost always).
My suggestion is that using a smaller capacity solid state memory storage, this could be used as a "small fast HDD".

My dvd's last a 100 years,.. lol (imation)
I was told that the hard-drive speed is to slow to keep up with the rest of the pc,..
I have seen pc's using ram drives,.!? offcourse i understand you have to keep your pc turn on,.to keep all data,.
And to copy large amount's of data from 1 harddrive to a other sometimes takes hours,...
I quess this new storage tech is not ment to be used as a harddrive!?

No, they won't. The dye layer and other stuff would decay way before that.

The harddrive is currently still faster than all the other mediums of storage though, that are targetted at storing large amounts (so not including stuff like RAM, try getting 500gb of that...)
