That's retarded logic.

Toast!
Logic is logic...It only varies on different levels of intelligence.

so fuckin' true.
I say mainstream music sucks because it's all for the sake of making money. You see these douche bag bands that make 3 CDs a year and are million heirs. Their songs become ring tone commercials meant for fudgeing kids...Their faces are plastered all over t-shirts and other crappy merchandise. It's all for fame and propaganda. The songs released don't have any feeling and all start to feel repetitive and start sounding the same.
After making 20 CDs, they quit for 10 years then they to come back but the spoon is even worse.
Joomla12 Wrote:Because underground isn't where all the douchey mainstream kiddies are at.
so you listen to music, because douchey mainstream kids don't?
please stop listening to music forever.
Agree completely with Xitherun, I have seen people that won't listen to Metallica or the Killers or anything just because OMG its mainstream and everyone knows about them. So they listen to Shoes up the skies and In the mirror I see, bands you don't really ever hear/ bands that don't really exist lol.. Those names were just made up because that's how it is.
My opinion is if you like the music and the band 'you should NOT give a damn if its mainstream and all the kiddies listen to it or if its underground and the band won't ever make it to best buy shelves lol.. Just go for whatever the heck you enjoy.

I think they only reason why genres exist is because it easier that way for "The Man" to put everything in a neat little package (not to sound like a hippy or anything), but I think that because more artists are starting to fuse certain elements from another genre into whatever genre they're doing, it all starts to blend. You definitely hear more "Rap/Metal" or "Rap/Rock" and "Punk/Funk" nowadays. Then there's Beck, he's always pushing the envelope and bending genres and acending as an artist, so he's not very genre definable, but "The Man" classifies him as "Folk" or "Alternative" when one of Beck's main influences was the Rap group "Public Enemy". I think genres come out of an excessive need to categorize things that don't really need to be. Why can't it just be music and sound different from time to time. Why can't people stop saying "I'm a Metal Head," or "I'm Punk," and blah, blah, blah. It just creates more lables because people are starting to define themselves a musical genres, which I think is completely stupid. It's like wee can't just be people who like certain stuff music anymore, wee have to make it into a complete lifestyle. What's with that. Also, I think whether it's underground or mainstream, as long as it sounds good then it's cool. Well... Different strokes, for different folks I guess. It all just leads to an interesting conversation about music.
