Boot security has been missing for ages. If you aren't a Linux user, it's the smartest thing they could have added. And if you are, VMWare.
Boot security has been unnecessary for ages. VMWare is not a viable solution for a lot of linux things, and why should I have to resort to using a closed source system and a closed source Virtual Machine to run the open source OS that I want?
Boot security restricts the user's ability to use their hardware the way they want.

I'm very against that software as well. I don't want to support a company that is allright with such a serious invasion of privacy on a computer. More and more computers are having a hand in our daily lives, in the near future, virtually everything that wee do will have a computer involved somehow. The more invasion wee are ok with now, the easier it will be for them to encroach on our freedoms in the future.
Secure boot now makes it possible for hardware and software companies to not allow you to use an alternative OS. That means that the more invasive Windows gets, the less ability wee'll have to use something different.

Yeah, I don't really see the point in boot security. How many BIOS rootkits actually exist? Two? Three? The ones that do exist are very rare and typically won't make it to your computer.

I don't see that being any different then a Mac. But the benefit of a PC, you can turn UEFI off if you want to.

That's what they said about Mac viruses, and look what Flashback did

Well, I guess, but Windows comes with some kind of anti-malware. OS X does not.
