seriously apart from being burned the lappy will tell you if its running too hot. it will begin by artifcats in games - especially newer games, the system may also slow down or judder (mouse inputs will lag - that's a small clue that the system is struggling), or as mentioned it may also shut itself off. if you see any of these things in that order then i would get it checked out.
