I do slowest possible for linux distros and other OS', and half speed, (4-8x, not sure) for psp games.

my dvd drive's max speed is around 18X, but i always put 1 speed below the max speed of the dvd-r to burn, have tried one time when i burned some files in speed of 8X, the burning process do not finished, so mess up one dvd-r in the trash can, then tried again another 1 with 16X speed (with 18x of its max speed) well the burning process finished and test it to check if there might some problems after burning, so far there's no problems. i always use nero burning rom and with mg LG dvd multi writer, i can backup more files
