i doubt anyone that's not living with 500 yards of the exchange will get the claimed speeds because those speeds are theoretical - noone should be able to get the numbers that they claim.
up to 8 meg? (what im paying for) my donkey. im lucky if i get 3.5 meg a second - and even then that's only from uk servers. its a bloody disgrace. the higher the numbers get the greater the gap between claimed and actual.
well speedtest.net isn't working for me so im just using dslreports.com

No, it was 512 already until I tweaked around with the TCP/

And did I do this right? The results look a bit ridiculous

Well it reads in kilo BITS not BYTES.

1byte is = 8bits so you divide that by 8 and you get your download speed.

WOW Ge, that's fast.

hey where is my 600kb/s download speed... all i get is 500 at max.
Lol, and who changed the thread name?

Ah, it was Ge64.

Tweaking the TCP shouldn't really make your internet connection faster than what you buy.

Syfe Wrote:hey where is my 600kb/s download speed... all i get is 500 at max.

There will be overhead, other data has to be sent/received.

So can never really in practice reach the maximum speed.

yeah i can get at 556kb/s of an download rate... it seems the difference is my upload speed... odd.
I cbf doing measurements at home cause id have to stop my downloads and actually shutdown all other systems (and move my system downstairs to the modem and plug it in that.

Now I am back to using my old ISP (that I never cut by the way).
