Nothing too major, I just wanted some place that I could fiddle around with website programming and design, although I don't know where to begin.

I know there's lots to a website, like database management, scripts and layout design (which the latter two are easy to understand so far, don't know about the former as I haven't come across it yet.)

Yeah, I don't have any ideas or use for the website, so I was looking for some free webhosting or something.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions of what I need to know before considering on building a website? Thanks.

And what are some good free webhosters? What are some in YOUR opinion that you find very good (If I decide to buy premium membership or something).

P.S. Yes I can google, but I think a lot of you guys here have already went through the annoying process of digging out the right information ;)

Why don't I just do it off my home computer? Because I wanted to see how the website interacts with itself online and it's good to know how to do this sooner or later.
personally i have no real knowledge of building a website sorry. i have some bare minimum knowledge of how html works after building a myspace layout but that's about it. just try out some generators and things because i found that an easy way to learn how the code works and it helps when making the layout

The EP minecraft is hosted by fdcservers on a dedicated server. Wee pay roughly $60/mo for a dedi, but they're a pretty professional company and easy to work with. I'd highly look into them.

That sounds pretty nice, but I assume you guys all pitch in for it correct? Or unless somehow you generate revenue.

Will consider it when I make a website that either generates a lot of it's own revenue or when I start collaborating with others.

Any lame free solutions? Or just cheap ones... :/
Yeah, if you're just playing around, start with a free host IMO.
I recall ByetHost being alright - dunno how good they are now though.

Don't expect much reliability from free hosts, but if it's just a website you're messing with, it doesn't matter much.
I could come over to your house and teach you all sorts of stuffs~ <3

About website building... :P

I'd go with what Zinga said but if you want, I can host you. You just need a domain. You can get a free one from http://co.cc/.

Remember to use internet explorer with co.cc because it's a buggy website that doesn't work on firefox and whatnot.
