It does have a few strange things to consider but not xampps fault really.
Using an Android emulator (AVD) to talk to the site on localhost has to use 10.0.2.2 and not the standard 127.0.0.1 as the AVD is behind a virtual router with an IP of 10.0.2.1
It took me a while to figure that out but now that I have things are working nicely.

what kind of programming are you looking at doing? simple html & css3? php? asp in c#?

Anything that gets the job done really, if there's a reason to know the language, then I'll learn it.
I mean, all programming languages have the whole logical concept behind them, just different implementations, so knowing one language doesn't mean you won't know double you tee eff is going on in another.
