i done the update from fw v3.03oe-c to v3.40oe-a with no problems. but as soon as i checked the "configure menu" in the "recovery menu", the screen just goes blank (light blue screen. not the dark blue screen of death) and the psp switches off by it's self after say 20 sec's. just like if the psp has bricked itself. but when you switch it back on, everything seems ok. so i used the recovery "eboot" to go back to fw v1.50. then done a update to back to v3.03oe-c. so the psp was back to what it was before the v3.40oe-a update. and again, the "configure menu" in the "recovery menu" is still missing and the psp freezes again.
any suggestions on how to fix this bug???
i heard that the new 3.40 has a few bugs. but what i didn't realise that it would affect the psp if you downgraded to an earlier cfw.
try deleting the se.config file from the flash1
maybe that will help.
Use a homebrew program like PSPfiler
Did you use any easy installers apps.

i used dark alex's usual installer.
one thing i forgot to mention. i done an update on my mates psp and everything is working fine on his. i used the same custom software. so im well confused now
Don't use installers do it manually mayby that will fix the prob. I don't trust installers for that kind of stuff.

im a noob when it comes to the psp's flash mem. so i don't want to go messing around with the flash, just in case i really mess things up and get an expensive door stop.

yeah i don't like the installers myself. but i followed the the "read me" that came with dark alex's firmware. that i downloaded it from his website. so i trust it.
messing around with flash1 is relatively harmless.
Isn't that where the recovery files are kept.

I'll will give it a go.
question. if i do mess things up in flash1, could i use the recovery eboot to take me back to v1.50 then back up to 3.xxoe-x?
i won't be able to download anything for a few days. as im away from my home pc and i can't download anything on the pc that im using at the mo :(
Flash1 is where your configuration files are kept. It's not the end of existence if something gets deleted from flash1.
Flash0 is the one you need to be extra careful with.
I would try to do what's been suggested so far, then if that doesn't work, go back to 1.5 if possible. Play with it for a while to ensure that everything works correctly, then try to update to say 3.30 OE instead of 3.40 OE.
Report back and let us know what's up.
