I actually don't know what monetary constraints means Emptyone

How much money are you limited to.

Only $500 AUD from my work experience week as part of school <_<
$500 AUD is sure a lot to earn from work experience for 5 days now that I look at it.

Hmm, I have a lot of old computers lying around, I might check those but I have a feeling they're not powerful enough for what I want to do, but who knows until I see them for myself?
You have a case and a power supply right?

Yes.

Yes.

Motherboards?

If yes, got any with PCI-E slots or just AGP?
$500 is hell of a lot for work experience.  Unless you work full time (~37 hours/week), then I take that back.

If it's $500 and your HDD is fine, I wouldn't bother with a new one.  If you don't have a spare partition, shrink it and make room for one.  Install Windows on that and then you can slowly migrate things across.
Isn't there a possibility for driver problems? Well, if you install the correct drivers before the swap, of course there won't be. Install drivers before sWAP!

Regardless of drivers, you'll get screwed over by MS's activation poo poo.
You could get a cradle?

It wasn't full time, and it was only running for one week and I didn't do any work on day one and still got the pay for it. So yeah it's alot but I don't feel bad about it Hiding_something
