[quote]It appears that Keznews forum member Snooza has discovered a method that effectively obtains a Windows Vista key which can then be activated. The idea is a simple brute force attack: the software generates keys and when it finds one, you manually have to check if it activates. The 8-step method can take anywhere from two minutes to two days. Members of the forum have verified the strategy and claim it works. This technique should worry Microsoft, not because they are losing customers to piracy again, but because the customers who are actually spending the money on the latest Windows version may start being unable to activate the software with a legally purchased key. It seems that the main issue is time, and with today’s modern PCs, it really isn’t that much of a problem. Evidently, pirates would rather wait a couple of hours, than go to work and make the money needed to purchase a legal copy. The author of the article over at Keznews has a disclaimer which emphasizes that, “under no circumstances should anyone sell the key that they generate. I do not support Piracy, this was simply an experiment in which i used to practice my vbscripting. This was just for fun and was a complete accident! I strongly encourage everyone to purchase windows vista, and be a genuine customer!
After finding the technology to make mind-controlled machines such as wheelchairs and robots, it's only natural for technologically-gifted humans to make mind-controlled video game devices. This new gadget, based on the latest developments in neuro-technology, lets humans communicate with computers in an entirely new interface.
Called "Project Epoc" and developed by Emotiv, one just has to put on this headset and think "start" or "select" while viewing a console screen to actually perform these actions. There are sensors in the headgear that tune into electric signals naturally produced by the brain, enabling the device to detect the player's thoughts, feelings and expressions.
Among the updates, you'll find complete and proper support for Windows Vista, a new enhanced text copy feature, several fixes, improved compatibility with some systems and new additions to the scripting API.
Art has released the source code for X-Flash. Due to work and other commitments he has not been able to update X-Flash.
Art-
I won't be able to update X-Flash in the near future, due to work commitments. I was only planning to add support for one later DAX firmware, since the topmenu_plugin mods don't work after that. The release of X-Flash source code does not mean that I won't update it someday. It is quite likely that one day, out of nowhere, an official V19 will appear unexpectedly ;)
There’s fresh news from the front where Blu-ray and HD-DVD are duking it out — for the first time since the beginning of the battle, Blu-ray is showing a lead by showing more sales than HD-DVD. Exact figures are unavailable, but 100 Blu-ray discs are being sold for every 98.71 HD-DVD discs, according to preliminary statistics from Nielsen VideoScan data. That may not sound like much, but it’ll be more apparent when you get the real figures.
HD-DVD had the advantage of getting into the market significantly ahead of Blu-ray, and the cheaper hardware and disc prices were almost guaranteed to win over the latter. HD-DVD did enjoy the top spot for a while, but since the availability of the PlayStation 3, there has been a lot of push by the backing industry and studios.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that the war between Blu-ray and HD-DVD is over yet. It’s still too soon to declare a clear winner. And who knows — with almost 1:1 sales of discs and combined Blu-ray/HD-DVD players on the scene — maybe there won’t be one
