Thank you to whoever made the "Large Original Icons" theme,
I used it as my base when building this one. I liked the style
and how everything was centered.

Big GrinUpdated [Perfect] Super Mario Bros. 3 Custom Home Screen
12/11/2015 06:56 PM Posted by: BigDaddyWeaves in PSP News
Here's the download link for the new and improved "Super Mario Bros. 3 Custom Home Screen"
I hope you like it, it took me quite some time to figure out how to make it without any graphical errors. I will be doing requests if anyone wants me to release it for other firm-wares, but on one condition. You have to provide me with the DECRYPTED/UNPACKED "impose.prx & impose.rsc" files that come from the firm-ware you want me to make the Super Mario Bros. 3 Home Screen compatible for. I don't really know much on how to do that so I'll leave it up to you.

What this will do…
Changes your boring old Home Screen Menu to the new revamped Super Mario Bros. 3 Menu

============= CREDITS =================
Imposer GUI v0.1
Imposer.exe v0.2 by Z33
All sprites from The Spriters Resource
(all except for the smiley face)
============= GUIDE =================

Directions…
Make sure you are on 5.00m33-6
Hold R trigger while booting PSP
Recovery menu will open
Now select "Advanced" and then "Toggle USB (flash 0)"
Plug PSP into computer and drag files from .zip file into the appropriate folders
(everything is already in the correct folder so it makes it easier)

**********************
WARNING!!!!!!!!
If done wrong this will semi-brick your PSP some people may even fully brick, if done completely wrong. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully. I will NOT be held responsible for any damage you cause to your PSP if you just so happen to mess up somewhere along the way.
ONLY for 5.00m33-6 firmware (currently)
– hopefully requests come in for different firm-wares

PSX Home Screen Pixelated Mess
(Non-Fixable to this day, I think)
When pressing the home button on a PSX Game you'll get this pixelated mess. Don't worry, everything still functions but the volume ticks don't show up anymore and the AVLS and battery icon blink continuously. Also the volume bar doesn't show up on the main XMB anymore and the mute icon is displayed. This really only looks good on homebrew games like EBOOT's and of course ISO's/CSO's
(so if you can deal with a few downfalls I think you'll definitely enjoy this.)

A little preview...

The UK Deems iTunes and General Backups Illegal
05/08/2015 12:40 PM Posted by: Joom in Tech News
Quote:The High Court recently overturned private copying exceptions introduced last year by the UK Government, once again outlawing the habits of millions of citizens. The Intellectual Property Office today explains that ripping a CD in iTunes is no longer permitted, and neither is backing up your computer if it contains copyrighted content.

Late last year the UK Government legalized copying for private use, a practice which many citizens already believed to be legal.

The UK Intellectual Property Office noted that the changes were “in the best interest” of consumers and that they would bring copyright law into the 21st century.

However, the new regulation was short-lived. Fearing a loss of income several music groups objected at the High Court, which subsequently agreed that the new legislation is unlawful.

As a result the changes were overturned last month and the previous limitations were reinstated. To find out what the public can and can’t do under the law, TF reached out to the UK Intellectual Property Office, which provided some very clear answers.

“It is now unlawful to make private copies of copyright works you own, without permission from the copyright holder – this includes format shifting from one medium to another,” a spokesperson informed us.

The IPO specifically notes that copying a CD to an MP3 player is not permitted. This means that iTunes’ popular ripping feature, which Apple actively promotes during the software’s installation, is illegal.

Also, under the current law iTunes is actively facilitating copyright infringement by promoting their CD-ripping functionality. This means that the company could face significant claims for damages.

There is more though, as the law affects much more than just ripping CDs. Simply copying a song in an automated computer backup or storing a copy on a private cloud hosting service is also against the law.

“…it includes creating back-ups without permission from the copyright holder as this necessarily involves an act of copying,” wee were informed by the Government spokesperson.

Strictly speaking this means that UK citizens are not allowed to make a backup of their computer. After all, pretty much every computer contains copyrighted media. Needless to say, this turns almost the entire country into ‘outlaws’.

The Government is not happy with the High Court decision but it hasn’t decided whether it will propose revised private copying exceptions in the future. Copyright holders previously suggested allowing private copying in exchange for a tax on blank CDs and hard drives.

“As this is a complex area of law, the Government is carefully considering the implications of the ruling and the available options, before deciding any future course of action.”

As reassurance, the Government notes that that people shouldn’t be too concerned because copyright holders are not known to come after people who make a backup of their computers.

“The Government is not aware of any cases of copyright holders having prosecuted individuals for format shifting music solely for their own personal use,” the IPO spokesperson says.

However, copyright holders can take people to court over both CD-ripping and computer backups, if they want to.

I don't quite understand the logic behind this decision. It really seems as though the High Court is trying to blanket cover any possibility of piracy.

 Windows 10 Event Highlights
21/01/2015 05:32 PM Posted by: S7* in Tech News
[Image: OS_Windows_8.png]Microsoft has just wrapped up its Windows 10 Event making a slew of announcements, with the most intriguing being the HoloLens augmented reality headset.

Here's a round-up of what else was announced:
  • Windows 7 and 8.1 users will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free over its first year after launch.
  • Windows 10 will feature a return to the desktop as its main interface, borrowing the best of its Windows 8 Metro experiments to provide a good touchscreen experience as well.
  • Refreshed icons. Finally.
  • Microsoft's personal assistant software Cortana will be part of the new OS.
  • Windows Phone is dead. As a brand, anyway. As part of their plans to unify Windows as wee know it across phones, tablets and PCs they've decided to drop the 'Phone' brand from their mobile experience.
  • A really, really big Surface called Surface Hub.
  • New browser Project Spartan was unveiled, set to become Internet Explorer's successor. It will use a new engine, have a new UI and will let you annotate the web, if you want to.

There was some Xbox news, too:
  • Xbox One streaming to any device running Windows 10.
  • Windows 10 will feature an Xbox app for browsing your game collection, chatting to friends on Live and a Game DVR feature for recording PC game footage using the Win+G shortcut, including the previous 30 seconds.

And here's the crazy headset they announced along with Windows Holographic.

Spoiler:

Certainly seems intriguing - apparently it will be priced with both enterprise and consumer in mind and will be released during Windows 10's lifecycle.

Good show Microsoft! Specky

 Coach suspended after 161-2 win
18/01/2015 03:58 AM Posted by: krystabegnalie in Random News
Quote:SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- A Southern California high school basketball coach has been suspended and faces accusations of mercilessly running up the score after his team won a game 161-2, one of the most lopsided scores in state history.

Arroyo Valley High girls' coach Michael Anderson was suspended for two games after the victory last week against Bloomington High.

Anderson said that he wasn't trying to run up the score or embarrass the opposition. His team had won four previous games by at least 70 points, and Bloomington had already lost a game by 91.

"The game just got away from me," Anderson told the San Bernardino Sun on Friday. "I didn't play any starters in the second half. I didn't expect them to be that bad. I'm not trying to embarrass anybody."

He says if he had it to do again, he'd have played only reserves after the first quarter, or, "I wouldn't play the game at all."

But Bloomington coach Dale Chung says Arroyo Valley used a full-court press for the entire first half to lead 104-1 at halftime.

"People shouldn't feel sorry for my team," Chung said. "They should feel sorry for his team, which isn't learning the game the right way."

Anderson has served one game of the suspension, a game his team won 80-19 with his son Nick at the helm. He'll return after sitting out one more.

"He's a great X's and O's coach," Chung said. "Ethically? Not so much. He knows what he did was wrong."

 PSP OFW 6.61 incoming!
15/01/2015 01:37 PM Posted by: S7* in PSP News
Dust off your PSPs folks. It's that time again. Time to get some more of that "system software stability" with 6.61.

Quote:Today, Sony released firmware 6.61 for the PlayStation Portable. Um. What?

According to Sony, the update improves system software stability. For those keeping score, the last time Sony updated the PSP's firmware was in August 2011.1

The update, however, is currently only for Japan. It will be announced for elsewhere at a later date. Keep in mind that this year, there are still games coming to the PSP in Japan.

Source: Kotaku

New games? Well, this week Xseed Games released "Brandish: The Dark Revenant" for PSP on US PSN.
