I propose wee start doing a POTW!!!!! (Photo of the Week) That way even people who hate using Photoshop or don't know how to use it can join in with Graphics aswell!! :P (Basically got the idea from R!KKU in deigo's battle thread, but I wanted to take credit for it hehehe)

Each week/whatever time frame (maybe every 2 weeks?) there is a new theme, like SOTW but you have to take the picture yourself. I think that there should be a rule of no photo editing software unless to crop/resize?

The whole point of SOTW is that it shows off your talent, and even though I love photography, photographs, and memories, it takes no skill to click the button on top of the camera.

Yes it does actually. Firstly if you have to get the right light conditions. Then you have to get the light where you want it. Then you have to get the focus and focal right. And above all of that you have to actually get a decent thing to take a picture of. You can get many many different outcomes of the same picture just by using a camera alone. Even with some cheap plain generic digital cameras you can get some great images. So no it it not easy to just take a picture. Yes it's easy to click the button, but to get a good picture is difficult, more difficult than some Graphics. Anyway I think it is a good idea because it is a change from the general Photoshop and creating digital work. Wee need more practical and this is probably the best, most common and simplest way to do it.

i think the idea sounds a little strange, but your waaay off if you think theres nothing to photography slushba, its a very hard thing to do well in reality, and like mehakker said, requires a fair bit of talent

I'm not saying there is nothing in a picture, a picture is worth a thousand words after all.
What I am saying is that it's too easy for people to just snap a picture and call it art when in fact it isn't.
Anything is art as long as it has more than surface value, and the fact is some pictures just don't; and therefore, just arent.

Well. I love photography but the thing is, what photo will people vote, one that is a snapshot? or one that us a beautiful perfectly exposed scene?

I'll have to agree with Slushba here, pictures of the moment are special.

I don't think a POTW can be achieved without bad photos..
