yes.. that is prolly the greatest Vista Related issue on MS's behalf... they just did not clearly specify the required hardware... it sucks on medium to low end machine. I get a mere 5.5 - 6 User Exp. Rating (funnily depends upon each new install)

Think back, when XP came out, people were reluctant to migrate from 98. Windows user die when faced with an Linux based machine!
Interestingly, many people have said that, but statistics fail to support the argument.

From comparisons of sales at the same time after both XP and Vista were released, Vista has had a much lower number of sales as opposed to XP during the same period after release dates.
Here's a rather old article (maybe there's something newer, IDK) which gives some stats.

Anyway, I really don't care too much - 2000/XP/Vista - they're all pretty much the same to me.  Just a few things with Vista is really bothering (vLite solves quite a number of issues, so I won't bother mentioning those):
1) RAM usage - stock install of Vista x64 Ultimate takes a whopping 600MB of RAM!  And I thought, when I was building my comp, that 1GB was suffice.  Apparently not.  People may say that RAM is cheap, but then I ask, why bother at all?
2) Draconian security - ignoring UAC and all that garbage, I had serious issues trying to replace a few system files (that would replace fine on XP).  Might be a reasonable failsafe for beginners who like to mess up their system, but for people who know what they're doing, it's a pain in the @$$
3) Some design features (ie strong emphasis on searching) - I guess I could get used to them though
4) Don't see any advantage in upgrading, really...

I did get a number of odd crashes in Vista 32 bit, but didn't get anything in Vista 64 bit, interestingly enough.  Have no idea, but I'd only use the latter anyway, so not too big an issue.
