Messed up exam
I had a financial management exam a few days ago and was a rather interesting experience, incredibly enough.

After waiting 15 minutes to get into the room, wee filed into the lecture theatre and packed in (seems like they tried to cram as many people as possible in there).  Since wee were sitting right next to one another, they had two versions of the exam to prevent people from copying from each other.  Soon the exam started, but shortly after that, someone went up to the front, and suddenly everyone started laughing.  The lecturer (person directing the exam) basically went, "err, well looks like wee have a technical problem here...".
One of the copies of the exam had all the answers written on them (not mine unfortunately).  Surprising if you think about it - they printed 200+ copies of an exam without realising that the answers were on them...  So they collected up the copies of the messed up exam papers - apparently they had a "backup exam paper" (double you tee eff?  they printed another 200+ copies of a backup exam paper?).  Obviously some people tried to hide some of the messed up copies, but they were at least smart enough to count the papers this time.
Well, the schedule kinda got totally messed up, but the exam went on.

Got an email yesterday though - here's the first part of it:
Quote:Dear Students

It has been brought to my attention that a number of problems occurred within the administration of the [exam].

Wee regret that this situation has arisen and it would be unfair to the student cohort to ignore these events.  It is impossible for the university to identify accurately the impact that the problems may be had on any one student's performance.  Wee understand that marks for the assessment item have already been released but prior to their release wee had a small number of students raise issues in relation to the stress that the situation generated and issues of integrity within the examination process.

It is for the above reasons that, for any student who undertook their mid-semester examination in the Schonell Theatre and who feels that their performance on the day was affected, the school has made the decision to schedule an additional midsemester examination in the course.
So basically, if you got a poo poo mark, well, you get a second chance.  Obviously, it's not really a big thing, but meh - people will complain anyway.  Got 19/20 myself, so I'm not going to go through all that again just for the chance to get an extra mark.

So conclusion?  I guess don't stick the answers on an exam - it's not a smart idea...

RE: Messed up exam
I once sat for an exam where they had two sets of exam papers, with the same theory (to prevent copying).. though not as epic as this, the FailBoat crew management had simply jumbled the order of the questions in both sets.. so effectively, it was all for nothing.

funny thing is that people still flunked!

RE: Messed up exam
The best part was how the lecturer kept going on how the exam was easy the weeks before.  I guess he forgot that he could screw it up too...
