O.O i heard it sucks by ALOT of people but im gonna try it i had it but wasn't able to work it so i uninstalled it so now that i know ps im gonna try it

GIMP is capable of doing things that PS can't. But it does take alot of getting used to and knowing how to do things in PS will not help at all.

it had gotten to 30% and stopped but i closed it and started it again and it seems to be going now so ill see but that's the one i got

I Use Gimp And In My Opinion I Prefer It Better Than Photoshop :D

GIMP isn't as well laid out compared to Photoshop, unless you read the help file I'm pretty sure you'll be lost for quite a bit ;)

You should try looking for more tuts. There is hardly any difference between GIMP and PS except for the layout and your not going to get any better just because you switch programs.
