Hey guys !! - I'm back !! and I don't come back empty-handed... :present::wink2:
This guide shows you how to activate full 480*272px high resolution
background pictures on firmware 3.80(M33)... (It's only a little bit HexEditing) :wink2:
(If you don't like HexEditing you can download a pre-edited vshmain.prx)
OK.. let's start: 1.) Take a decrypted vshmain.prx and open it with your favourite HexEditor
(For Help: prxdecrypter 1.8) (Don't forget to make a backup of your original vshmain.prx !!!)
2.) Goto offset 0x270CC and change the value from
0x2018(6176 bytes) up to 0xFF7F(32767 bytes)
3.) Flash the modified vshmain.prx and enjoy your HighRes-Backgrounds
(maybe recompress it first: -- no 3.80 PRX-recompression till now --)
I hope the next firmware brings PSP-Themes
with built in HighRes-Backgrounds
--------------------------------------------- Tipp: Don't make your final JPG with Photoshop because it stores
a lot of Metadata in it and this leads to a very big picture(file size).
I've written my own JPEG-Encoder and the resulting pictures have
much better quality at the same size.
Try GIMP or something like that instead of Photoshop.
and to edit the color in or vshmain.prx the VSHMain PRX Colour Editor v2.0 gives to me invalid file
The "vshmain Color Editor v2.0" is for all firmwares till 3.7x, but 3.80 has other color-offsets.
Tomorrow I'll maybe have a view on it and release the new offsets  (If Zinga hasn't updated his editor till then :wink2:)
Got to try your encoder and 01-12 bmp maker. By the way, can I use it to combine 60x34 images? What do I change and how? Thanks.
Edit: I just read your readme and it says something like: "With this application you can create 01-12.bmp's of any size." That's great! All we need to do is to make our 12 images such that the filesizes are equal or less than the intended blocksize defaulted in vshmain.prx.
Thank you very much for this handy application.:wink2: Ver handy indeed.
