zb, question @ u
hey

a friend has a legal problem
well not really

but theres a topic on a site with about 113 pages that he needs to backup to his local pc for evidence before it gets deleted.

i would write a php script, but the problem is he can only access the thread when he is logged in

now I know you can download a URL's (html) output using the inet control in vb, but i don't know if it can emulate a browser and log into the site, maybe you do? maybe you could make a program? the URLs are in the formal http://www.domain.dom/forum/topicid/pagenumber with pagenumber ranging from nothing to 115 approx, and wee only need the html output in a file pagenumber.html or something

do you think that's easy?

i dno.

RE: zb, question @ u
There's already apps out there which do that.

Use Flashget's Batch Download feature - enter http://www.domain.dom/forum/topicid/(*) and the numbers and Flashget will download all the webpages for you.  Main problem would be the linked files (ie .js/.css and images etc) though those could probably be redirected.
Or, if the forum supports displaying lots of posts on a page, try that as well.

RE: zb, question @ u
wheres the batch download function?
also, i have a program that searches and replaces within multiple files so the external links like the stylesheet and images isn't a problem :) thanks for the tip
