Iv honestly never had a fake. I check the comments and if there are not any after 100 downloads I ignore it completely.
I mainly use Torrents and RS/MU. Used WinMX many moons ago when that was still strong but only for music. Personally if you take the time and thought to cover your tracks your fine. Peer Guardian, private trackers etc... all helps keep you from been found to be honest.
