Downloading a TV Show
There is a debate on whether or not downloading a TV show should be illegal. What to you think?

I think it's silly. Even if it were illegal, how is it any different than watching the show on TV?  You're just paying for a different service.

RE: Downloading a TV Show
I don't understand how TV subscriptions work in America (TV is free here unless you get pay TV; wee just have tons of ads).
Considering that ads seem to be a fair part of the revenue for TV shows, I'd say they should make them available online, but plaster ads in them.
Ad overlays are annoying to viewers, but it seems a logical move on the part of the TV station.  These can't easily be removed, and as a bonus, people who download the show illegally see them as well.

Yes if they let you watch the show free online and air it at the same time as TV, but they should have a adblock detector on their website, that will notify you to "Please turn off adblock".

Also pirates don't like ads, so they will edit and remove the ads before they upload. Specky

Difficult if the ads are hard-burned into the video.  In which case, ad blockers would have no effect.

I think it's weird that they say watching a show online is illegal on a non-legit streaming site, but you are allowed to use a DVR to record a show. If I can DVR the show, why can't I download the show?

But what if you don't pay for a tv subscription, and just use the internet, like me. Yay
