1155 Is the socket type the i7-2600K uses.
The motherboard you listed there has a 1366 socket type.

(p67) z68 or z77 chipset not an x58 Madwin

goodluck on the upgrade :D

what ? I don't understand where 2600k is coming from & what a 1155 board is

you listed an i7 2600k

which needs an 1155 socket board :)

your

Code:
EVGA 141-BL-E760-RX LGA 1366 Intel X58 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

is a 1366 socket with an X58 chipset

so its either you change your board to an 1155 socket (chipsets are P67 Z68 H75 or Z77)

OR

change your processor to a first gen i7 9XX, i7 9XX extreme edition :)

...

personally, id stick with the 2600k, change the board to a compatible one
where will you be getting your parts?
do they have a website?
i could look it up for you :D

try windows 8 consumer preview,.. works fine! :)

only autocad2012 didn't work,.. but should be fixxed by now,.

basicly its windows 7 with a metro style menu added(instead of start menu),. its free and havnt had any errors or stuff,..

RE: Think I'm going to be broke very soon
Not really much difference, but I'd go for a Z77 board now since there isn't much difference in price anyway.
Gigabyte Z77-D3H costs about the same as your Z68.

May wish to consider whether your computer needs 16GB RAM.  If you're getting 4GB sticks, you can just buy 2x4GB and add more later if necessary.

2500K unless your applications can make use of 8 threads (and even if they can, consider that the 2600K at best gives you +30% performance over the 2500K, probably lower in most cases).
