This came from a specific post, just got me thinking about the statement

"Well that's not the worst thing that could happen..."

To be honest, IS there a worst thing that could ever happen? It seems that it's logically impossible to find the worst thing that could happen because there's always something worse. Like a set of numbers on a domain that is infinite, that sort of thing.

Kinda got me thinking about life, well maybe my situation or any situation I will get myself into will never be "the worst thing that could happen."

Also the opposite statement would be "there will always be a silver lining" is actually a true statement.

Meh, maybe this is pretty damn obvious, but I never thought about it this way, it's reassuring to say the least. :>

P.S. Can "the worst possible thing" be used as an excuse as well? Because it's almost redundant to say something that is literally true in every statement.

I tell that phrase to people a lot so that they feel better, but I see it as empty optimism really. (I'm not sure if I phrased it correctly)

I think the worst thing that can ever happen would be the end of the world even though you haven't lived your life. People are afraid of death and the older you get the more you turn to religion for comfort, and to make yourself believe you'll go to this awesome place called heaven.

I believe life is what you make of it yourself and not what others tell you, and that you only get one life so you have to make it count.
