Official ISO loader found in 3.50 and 3.51

The first explanation that comes to mind regarding the official ISO loader is that Sony is planning to release downloadable PSP titles either through PSN or a similar service geared exclusively for the PSP. The company has already mentioned earlier this year that a download service for the PSP is in the works.

French PSP news site PSP-Generation also notes that Dark AleX and Mathieulh will be patching the np9660.prx file for use in custom firmware 3.51 OE.

DAX working on 3.51 OE instead

The bad news is that according to Mathieulh, Dark AleX will not be releasing custom firmware 3.50 OE, so those who have been waiting for it won't ever get it. The good news is that Dark AleX will be rolling out custom firmware 3.51 OE instead to keep abreast of Sony's most current firmware version for the PSP handheld system.

There has been no time frame yet for when 3.51 OE will come out, but rest assured that wee'll be reporting it as soon as it does. Keep checking back here for updates. Thanks to bhattsan for the heads-up on this news piece.

well sony r dumb to include an iso loader its surely gonna be used by the hackers

yep very good for us

the iso loader wouldnt necesarily be goood for us
cause wee are already on oe but for noobs stuck on 3.51 they might be able to use it to hack the psp s or play iso on them

on maxconsole i just saw a post which i think could be right,
if sony are thinking of a psp2, then this could be a step forward, if the downloading isos from sony is succesful then the psp2 might not have a umd drive.. and they can also sell games on a memorystick instead of a umd..umd's are only 1.8gb where as a memorystick can go up to 8gb at the moment and so this could be a "test" to see if it is successful, so not a completely stupid move on sony's side..it could work out in the long run..
but on the other hand, theoretically sony are giving us 100% No-UMD support..

yes that is a very good way of looking at things. but who knows maybe the sony iso loader would be better in some way?

if sony wanted to make the psp lite(or 2) really small, removing the umd drive and only having games on memory stick would be a good idea.

so if i were to upgrade to 3.51 i could still play my isos

no, it wouldnt work like that, it would be like the psx emulatuion.. sony will somehow encrypt the games or put a "signature Check2 so that the iso loader would look for the signature and would only run the iso if it passes the check..

yep I bet that's how they would do it.
