No wifi
Something went wrong with my PSP. I can't use wifi now. Since everytime, I try to connect, error message says that wlan is not turned on, even when the switch is already on. Is this a hardware thing? It seems that the wlan switch is loose or something. I need to have wifi again.

RE: No wifi
have you disassembled your psp? is it possible something could have come loose (from a serious drop or something)?
give a few more particulars

My psp's wlan swicth is F****d up!:grrrrrr:
I was able to open the psp, removed the top plat that is. I've read the tutorial on opening the psp but kind of hesitant to do the next step. I checked the wlan switch and I saw that it's somehow loose then a small black piece (T-shaped) came out that is seemed to be part of the switch.
Is this the only way to turn on the wifi? I was hoping there would be a "software" thing or prx to launch it.
If noe then I guess, I'll be saying bye-bye for awhile to my psp when I send it for repair.O.O

RE: No wifi
mm sounds like your switch went to spoon.. I found replacement parts for everything practically but the WLAN switch. I would call Sony if you are still inside the warranty period and talk to them about it, that really sucks. Good Luck

RE: No wifi
and It can't be the antenna either.. but Im gonna go with a broken switch since you asid the T-shaped black peice was broken off
try picking up a bricked PSP for like $45-$50 and use the Wifi off that, and then you have more parts laying around when or if the time comes. Its really stupid when they got replacements for practically everything but the WLAN switch.

There's no more warranty to be voided that I tried to open my PSP. And I never said that I will send it back to Sony. I said "...when I send it for repair" which is still a thought. :mdr: Double postAnger Wrote:if your out of warranty you have 3 options:
1. replace the psp by selling your broken one for parts then buy a new or used one.
2. replace the part - ebay is a good bet or maybe someone on these forums has the bit?
3. and this is risky - solder the 2 pins of the switch together. i might add this only works if the switch is a 2 pin type. if its the three pin type you would need to find out which pins are used for the on position and solder those 2 together. it is vital you don't assume the top 2 pins are the correct ones because some rocker switches are inverted inside. please only do this option if you have soldering experience because bad soldering or worse wrong pin soldering will screw up the rest of the psp permanently.
now option 3 is good because its a quick fix but it is risky. option 2 is your best bet for safely getting the psp working but you could have a wait. and option 1 is really a last resort. good luck.
Thanks. I figured option 3 is the fastest way to fix it. I think I know what pin to solder. I was able to make it work. It's just tiring to use safety pin just make the points touch each other. Still hesitant to open the PSP beyond the faceplate. I saw a tutorial but somehow it seems that the thing holding the LCD is quite different from mine. I can't locate what is supposed to push or touch to free the LCD.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your post. I was just hoping that there's a find to launch the wifi other than that silly switch which is hard to find replacement. O.O
Edit:Oops! I did it again. Sorry for the double post. I can't find what to click to quote more than one. There's used to be.
