RE: Sony CEO says Nintendo devices are ‘babysitting tools'
i have a 60GB PS3 that i got on March 23rd 2007

Has PS2/PS1 BC, using Emotion Chip (PS2 GPU) emulation.

Early Japanese PS3s (Autumn/Winter 2006) actually have the Emotion chip installed as well, enabling full BC.

Removed due to cost, even my software emulation feature was removed in later versions of the PS3 as that required more (if not nearly as complex as the chip itself) hardware. Presumably to store the PS2 BIOS among other things.

Hadn't realised my PS3 is over 4 years old now ^^"

Only YLOD'd once (after 3 years of owning), fixed and still going strong.

I see the counter:
"Nintendo CEO says Sony devices are for 'basement nerd gamers with no life'"

Generalisations always fail.  Point somewhat taken but with plenty of criticism.

Exactly my thoughts. For me i can't see myself having a serious game out on a DS or anything, just as with Wii. They have never really appealed to me. Pokemon for the win and all that but that's about all i use Nintendo for.

same here I own an old 60GB backwards compatible PS3. It had a hard life before it came to me but it runs dam well and I expect to get some decent use out of it.

I only have Pokemon games for GBA and DS as well.  I don't really use it for much else.

As for my PS3 (Slim)...  I had just bought it literally on the first of April.  It has 160 GB and apparently only limited BC Emptyone

But I love it, nonetheless.

I'm afraid I don't know what chip it has. I'll have to google the specs of the slim model
