Wee have lecture recordings in MP4 (with H.264) for direct download (or alternatively, you can choose a real media stream...).  Not the most efficiently encoded, but still shits all over whatever you mentioned.  About 150MB or so for a 50 minute lecture, so also much better bitrates than whatever you mentioned.

Only started recently.  Back then, it was just the real media stream.
