Are you able to discern them most of the time?  I find, perhaps surprisingly often, it difficult to actually hear what exactly a singer is trying to say, often having to have to guess words.
Considering the popularity of people reading song lyrics, perhaps it means I'm not alone?  Any of you find it difficult to discern lyrics at times?

Yep, me.

I do have issues with poo poo rappers and growlers.... but there are exceptions as well. Production/mix can sometimes be blamed (e.g. band being too loud compared to vocalist).

That seems to be only common among amateur bands though.

Not true... unless early albums from some well-enough known artists don't count.
