Videos vs Text
...for news articles.  Text has traditionally been the form of news online, but with the popularity of videos these days, they're becoming popular in some places.

Videos can provide more entertainment (usually) and not require you to read lots of text, but text (which can include images to show visual aspects if necessary), on the other hand, is easier to scan, copy/extract and search from.

So, in general, do you prefer news to be in video or textual form?

Video doesn't work for news bulletins - which is how I like my news - in bite-size format unless the headline does actually involve seeing something I'm usually happy just reading snippets and it if it gets my attention I'm happy read an article.

It really depends on the content.. but for the majority of news I read it's all text.. be it on the web or in newspapers.

Videos are great for a quick background on the stroy. When you want a little more detail Text is the way to go. However I was reading the story of the Chilean mine rescue on the BBC news website. They had the textual content bu they also had a horde of other informatiuon like pictures of each miner and their profiles, a live video feed from the site and a brilliant interactive Flash animation detailing how the recue operation worked.

I my opinion, text is essential if you really want to know the story. Everything else is extra.

i still prefer text, since sometimes i can't catch up with live feeds, flash news usually comes in text form in our country
