Director Christopher Nolan says he will not bring back the Joker, the villain played so maniacally in "The Dark Knight" by the late Heath Ledger. The role earned him an Academy Award a year after his death.

In an interview, Nolan would not disclose what villain or villains might take on Batman in the next film, due out July 20, 2012. But the director says that Ledger for him was the definitive Joker and that it would not feel appropriate to bring back the character.

The next film will be the third in the current Warner Bros. incarnation of the Batman franchise, which stars Christian Bale as the vigilante superhero.

this is good and bad IMO
good to end it on a high note, and bad because that character had sooooo much potential
and i really wanted to see how johnny dep would of handled it.

I think it's good he's not going to replace Heath Ledger.

imo, I think he should do some more obscure villians, like Clayface, Firefly, or Man-Bat. Those would be sweet.

I think it was a good choice, Heath Ledger as the joker was good so imo it might not be the same to change the actor who'd play Joker.

Wonder what villain they do next...hoping for Clayface :)

Mark Hamill's arkham asylum 2 will be his last time as the Joker too, are they trying to extinct this guy?

yeah... i think they need to start putting the female bad dooers into movies... not just batman but all movies.
