Well, it all depends on if you can get a stable job or not. And since you have college, you can't work all day, so getting welfare would be a lot easier.

I'm sure I can talk my parents into leasing a room to you for cheap if you lived here (wee have loads of spare rooms), but you obviously don't, so no point talking about that.

Don't think age matters, at least not here; if you're unemployed, you can get welfare payments.
You should get over the idea of pride - getting welfare payments when you're unemployed is nothing to be laughed at or be ashamed of really.  Not everyone is employed all the time - for example, someone quitting their job because they didn't like it, then being unemployed for a while whilst they search for another job.

But if you do get a job, you won't have to worry about all this :)  Good luck though!
