Computer problem
i need help, i need to get my macbook sent in for a repair because of this fan sound,
I spoke on the phone to some indian guy for like 2 hours,

and he gave me this address and i guess a service number for my warranty issue,
I need to get it repaired since the fan is making a deathly noise and its been driving me crazy

But i thought it may of been dust so i took the screws out of the bottom and had a look,
then though oh spoon i might of voided my warranty

in the pdf i downloaded from apples site it says things like ram and hd's are user replacable, and shows your how to remove screws ect ect there for i could just tell the tech who is helping me? i wanted to know what ram my computer had,

or is it not the simple,
when i get a laptop in at work that's been used and pulled apart as long as they haven't broken any seals saying warranty void the company usually gets it repaired

RE: Computer problem
did you break a seal that says "if broken void warranty" or anything like that? if not then no because everything else is accessible so you can swap it out

RE: Computer problem
In macbooks, if you open it up, it voids warranty. Hdd is the only things you can replace. So unless you opened nothing other than the cover over the HDD, then you may still have a valid warranty. I'm not too sure about the RAM. I don't think its replaceable.

2 hours for a number?

Then you'd better hope that they don't bounce back on you saying that you screwed up while opening the covers. Well... truthfully, I don't have much experience with warranties as I ignore the Voids and all, and figure things out myself.

As for the RAM, its probably the Samsung one.

The best way to know is to call them up and enquire if warranty is valid or not.

Maybe you watch a little too much anime..

You could opt for the dumb customer approach by telling them that the fan makes a lot of noise and that's it. You don't know how to open those screws/and you never did it. Worked for me when I used to occasionally screw up my old TV. But one day they ran out of spares (more like I got a new TV).

RE: Computer problem
OI! APPLE GEEK HERE.

On the Unibody Macbooks, which I'm guessing you have (Yours is aluminum, right?), the entire bottom is fair game without voiding your warranty. The latch for the HDD and battery, plus the big panel that you need to take out like 6 or 8 screws to access are both illustrated in the manual and online, and you'll be fine. Hell, a Genius in my local Apple Store did it AT the display counter while I watched. It's all in warranty :)
