No driver for USB hard drive
Wierd thing happened, I have an old 60gb Seagate 2.5 Sata drive laying around, got a $10 external usb enclosure for it (yeah, I know), and plugged it in, but it doesn't show.  I look in device manager, and it has a ? by the usb drive, saying there are no drivers for it.  I have two other usb drives, no problems with them, same with my thumbdrives.  Doesn't show in disk management either.  I know the thing has to be formatted, but I have no way of getting it done.  Any thoughts?

RE: No driver for USB hard drive
by the way, if your in xp, it should be autoplay, otherwise, delete the driver with question mark in device manager then it will scan again the new hardware, if it still showing up, you need to download the enclosure's driver

RE: No driver for USB hard drive
piece of spoon enclosure has no install cd, instructions say it should be plug and play.  No drivers show as installed for it, so nuthin' I can uninstall.  May be a poo poo item.  I'll bitch at the guy in the morning, see what I can come up with.  Grr, wanted to use it for mah music collection, back it up and use it with the 360.

Tired, must sleep, maybe I'll figure sumthin' out with a bit of rest.

RE: No driver for USB hard drive
USB drive enclosures shouldn't require special drivers.  I've bought cheap ones to expensive ones and use it as a portable device (so many different computers) and it always works :/  Unless you've stripped them from your Windows install, it should auto-detect.
Which device has the "?" next to it?  There should be a disk device, and I think there should be a USB device too.
If the Windows driver search thing can't find it, you could try a fresh install of Windows and see if it detects it (if so, copy the driver across).

One thing though, if you're not going to use it as a portable drive, why not just install it inside the computer?  Or you could use eSATA (faster) if you have a port on the back of the PC.

RE: No driver for USB hard drive
Have you tried Right Clicking it and installing the drivers manually?
