How is this phone? Anyone here have it? I've gotten a bit fed up wit the phone I have now, so I want to get a new one, and the w580i looked pretty good to me.

For those that have it: How easy is it to put a custom theme on it? How easy or hard is it to get Java stuff to run on it? How's the sound quality on the earpiece?

i got it 4 Xmas metalgear... all i got to say is STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THIS FONE!!! worst piece of spoon ever!
i eventually after getting it fixed once got it replaced the second time it broke, less than a month later!!!!
problems i had:
-key crack in half, dunno why but if you google it it happens to most of these fones!
-it started to turn itself on and off!
-it sometimes froze
-it stopped reading my memory card!


now when i had it i got to say i like the actual fone and the sony ericsson fw but its just not worth the hastle!
it playes games ok, sond seems good when you have it but now i have a nokia 5310 and the sound is much better!

and more question just ask n ill tell ya wat it was like!

W800i, had it for a few years... still awesome as ever..

Oh wow. See, I knew about the cracking and the random shutoffs, but I thought they only happened to early models.

ya so did i that y i taut the first time i sent it off to get fixed that ya itll b grand wen i get it back but the buttons started cracking within a week (3 days i think) and then it went downhill again from there!!!
imo the nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone is pretty good, one thing i do miss is the task manager on sony ericssons, it was so handy!

What carrier you with?  If yer looking in the states, most likely att, right?  I have a Blackjack 2, love it.  iPhone is coming soon, you know that's gonna be hacked quick.

Yeah, AT&T currently holds the deed to my soul. The thing about the iPhone is that for the 3g version, you have to get a contract, or pay an extra $175. If I want to get an iPhone 1, it's $200 more, and neither has the storage space I need for both music and phone stuff. So I figure I'll keep my phone and media separate. I'm thinking of getting an 32GB iPod touch in the near future too. I just want a good phone to replace my current annoying one that my brother seems to want so badly. I get a new phone, he gets the old one.

I think the W580 can run themes made for that. I just need either a flip phone or a slider, and sliders don't break as easily, so I was really eying the W580, as it's thin for a slider, and it's really open and customizable.
