hey im for it... i rip them anyway so why not share lol.. il like to do a couple different versions but ill just share the HQ version and people can convert them to whatever format they want

I use to rip anime DVDs i borrow from the public library and encode them pretty much for fun.

Don't really do it any more, but yeah, i got quite a lot of encoded OPs and EDs at home. Mostly h.264 video and HE-AAC audio though, using settings that are way too advanced for PSP to play, so no PSP.

actually ^^ that's what i do.. h.264 and aac.... ive been doing HD ones lately.. but like i said wee should just share the HQ versions and let people encode them how they want or request a certain format like psp (which id be willing to do).. most on this forum know how to convert anyway so it shouldnt be a big deal.. im gonna start on few now that i havent ripped yet..

should wee do like a youtube version and an HQ download version? or just download cause seriously OPs and EDs are usually a minute and a half so it shouldnt be a big file size... mine are like 5 meg and look perfect in HD.. only reason i say that is that some like to preveiw them.. but me on the other hand like good quality video and try not to use youtube cause the quality

I really can't afford to use my bandwidth to download doubles (HQs from Tokyo Toshokan) along with all the Anime I'm watching ATM.

I'm thinking about uploading the Highest Quality Rips I have to STAGE6, that way, they are hosted, downloadable, and straight away playable too~

I'd obviously work with subtitled as a lot of people like singing along~

My upload is 64kbit/s. = i can't upload big files at all... but then again, these OPs and stuff aren't big. So i can probably do it.

lol im not gonna requote all that....

what i do is make them h264 acc as an MP4 the i just rename it avi so you get the preview in vista.. work fine like that... and it better then mkv.... never liked mkv for some reason.. prolly cause my old pc wouldnt play them lol

what i mean by hd is actually HD... @ @ least 1280x768 (widescreen only i don't mess with 4:3 and if it is 4:3 i crop it by 20 pixels on the top and bottom and make it widescreen and natively at the res. not blown up).. but if your rip from a regular dvd and it is 16:9 and not the animorphic kind the the rsolution should be 720 by 400 as the border should be 40 pixels on the top and bottom but there is the odd case with a small side border but umm yeah
i guess ill start it then as i don't care about bandwidth or time it takes to upload... and if i don't start it then i can't edit it cause i have no mod powers

MKV is currently the most advanced container format capable of more features than any other container.

Ummm, if u cut the top and bottom, wouldn't it be missing a lot of stuff?

DVD is always 720x576. (Well, at least the commercial DVDs sold here in Australia).

If it's 16:9 AR, the 720x576 is just fit to the size of 720x400 as it is displayed.

^^ lol like i said i just don't care for mkv cause my old pc won't play them.. actually if you download anime that's HD its always mkv and i love it now that i have a new pc that can handle it...

yeah if you crop you lose a little bit but its only 20 pix on the top and 20 pix on the bottom so your not missing much.. no big deal to me lol

DVD here in the US is 720x480.... hmm... i know it is cause i keep the VOBs on my pc and i just check like 5 different ones and all were that... is AUS. PAL or NTSC? pretty sure only japan and the US are ntsc

The VOBs being on the PC should make no difference.

It's PAL in Australia, so yeah, that may be the reason.

Hmmm.... but 720x480 seems weird, since with an aspect ratio of 4:3, the vertical frame size would map to something between 544 and 528 if i remember correctly.

And 720x480 is smaller than 720x528... so that just seems weird.

EDIT:
...Looking back at this poo poo I wrote before, I realize how much I failed in the past.

720x480 is native NTSC DVD resolution...
