So are you sure you set everything in the Income Module settings to 0, and Global Rate = 1, Negate Rate = -1, and Money per Post = 1 ?
Cause I tried, but it worked fine for me here.

A few other things to note:
- The "default money" is included (AdminCP » Board Settings » MyPlaza Options)
- Check your forum rates (AdminCP » Forums » Manage)
- Check your usergroup rates (AdminCP » Users » Manage Usergroups)

Though, now that you mention it, I think the recount feature doesn't include forum/usergroup rates... :S

EDIT: Oh, and I presume you did the recount after you set the settings, right?

Omg nice work, it looks really good. I'll think of as many feat requests as possible and post them here:

- In richest users, option to include bank balance and/or asset value
- Second hand stuff is worth less and less every time it's sold (might be hard to do)
- Auction module
- Stock market module. Buy shares, and every day (or twice a day) a certain dividend is paid. There are shares of different risks, cheap ones can crash and burn but also go up like nuts, expensive ones go up slightly every time but are unlikely to ever go down much. This can be realised in a hard way (try to simulate a real stock market and let the laws of supply and demand run it) or an easy way (just use somewhat random price changes).
- Automatically withdraw from bank when buying with insufficient cash (ask)
- (referring to auction module) Allow users to put up downloadables for sale (eg sigs) or auction
- Make a company and recruit employees (company produces a certain item, which is for sale, and ppl can buy it for a user-defined price), company gains profit but pays incorporation fees to the system, and employees gain a CEO-defined amount of salary or part of the profit per item sold. Even moar features: employees have 24 hours in a day to work, they can be employee for different companies but they can have max 24 hours of work time spread over these employers. The more someone works for a company in a day, the more share of profits gained. Employers can fire ppl to save profit or change salaries, all of which the employee is notified of by mail or pm. The employee might be required by the employer to upload certain items at certain time intervals, employer is notified if deadlines are not met and can proceed to take measures against employee.

Endless possibilities for that one

- Weapon system (all users are neutral until they sign in), users can buy weapons and use them to fight others and 'borrow' their currency (victim agrees to be prone to attack by signing in to the weapon system once). Optional neutral period for victims after loss, victim automatically defends his/herself or has to allocate weaponry to every attack manually. etc.

- Prices for items change as stock depletes. Users may sell their items for a certain price second hand if stock reaches 0

- Exclusive items list of which one is randomly chosen once a day for an hour (or any time intervals) to be sold, whoever notices can get it and its value rises considerably after sales stop or stock depletes and can be sold second hand at high price. Admin only needs to make a list of items that can be randomly offered for sale by the system and lean back for a few weeks.

Well I'll think of more. Ive been looking into the code and if I find the time (me having to find time is not a good sign unfortunately) I may try to make some myself.

Well, let's see if wee can identify where the issue is.  If you don't mind, can you set up a little test forum with it installed?  See if you can reproduce the issue there.  If you can, would you mind letting me have admin access so I can fiddle around with a few things to see if I can identify it?
