Anybody here use or even heard of PTC Pro/DESKTOP 8?
PTC PRO/DESKTOP is a 3d modelling program I use for designing stuff for design and technology in school. Wee were all given copies (not sure if that's legal) to install at home. installed it on my computer but it doesn't work properly. I get wiered glitches and artifacts on screen and it won't let me select some things. It's getting very annoying now as I have to complete a design for school soon. I can't do it in school because I'm away on work experience for the next week and because the school computers are just plain slow:Z
If anyone's even heard of pro/desktop I'd be surprised as it's not very common but any help would be appreciated.
P.S. my video drivers are up to date.
P.P.S I'll post screenshots if I can get it to glitch.

IDK how good your school is, but considering that they've given it out to you, they should provide some support for the issue. Also, if it's a commercial application, you should be able to get support from the company too.
As for what I know, can't think of anything...

Go Here » http://www.ptc.com/support/index.htm?dd=Support
Click on the self-help section or try the update advisor, you don't have to register a product just give them some basic details (so even if the school is handing out dodgy copies, it doesn't matter). If your getting artifacts on screen it might be an issue with the OpenGL driver it's using for the overlay, but you should be able to find a solution on there site.

RE: Anybody here use or even heard of PTC Pro/DESKTOP 8?
I've tried PTC's website for updates and patches but they no longer publish the software. I've asked at school but the guy who gave it to us knows only how to use the software and he isn't an expert. In the lessons he gave us on how to use it I found out more about how to use it by just fiddling than actually listening to him. I spent most of the time building my psp.
I managed to get it to glitch as well. This happens after I right-click>view>autoscale. but if the model doesn't have to move e.g it's already autoscaled it won't glitch.
P.S. I love my 1440x900 monitor!

Can't find a service pack number but it's build 1050
Windows xp pro service pack 2
Matrox parhelia 128mb. should work as this card is designed for CAD work. It worked on my old computer which had crappy intel onboard graphics.
I've tried re-installing bout 5 times now!lol

RE: Anybody here use or even heard of PTC Pro/DESKTOP 8?
Wow, Parhelia. It may well have been designed for CAD work but it failed miserably, arguably one of the worst discrete cards in history, only good thing was triple-head tech (I have a triplehead2go on my gaming rig, it's the awesomeness).
Anyway, according to the SP2 update log, there is a issue with the display in certain conditions not updating vertices information. Unfortunatly I can't get the SP2 download from anywhere, though this is a product mainly used in schools (because no-one in there right mind would use it in a production enviroment) so your school should have a support contract and be able to get the update from the PTC website (it is there, I just can't get it without upgrading my account).

RE: Anybody here use or even heard of PTC Pro/DESKTOP 8?
aww, I love my parhelia! Reliable, great at playing video, custom resolutions (eg. I could set it to 123x456 if I wanted to but the monitor wouldn't display it) and Triple head. I read somewhere that through a complicated series of adapters you could have your desktop displaeyd over 8 monitors! the fan on the card is a bit noisy though! I didn't buy the card, it came with the computer. I bought the computer from Plymouth University. I've got a friend who teaches there who says "Proper Job!" at the end of every sentance. lol.
