Finally got the new VX Nano mouse. NOT YAY.
I have wanted this mouse for over a month, finally it was released. I plug it into my macbook and download the drivers (those arent even included for macs, only windows drivers are) and the fun begins. not. i have had to reset my pc 3 or 4 times after that, and that was yesterday. It seems to be a common problem. Do not buy a logitech mouse if you are using mac. Below is a copy of the email I sent logitech just now, I know its not the best but I think my point is clear and I hope to make a difference in getting them to notice mac users.
For your information, kernel panic is the mac port of the bsod.
"Recently I reinstalled Mac OS X Tiger onto my 2.4ghz Santa Rosa model Macbook Pro. Yesterday I bought your new VX Nano mouse after I had long anticipated it's release in Hong Kong. I have had this laptop for 2 months and have barely ever needed to restart it due to an error and had never experienced a kernel panic message before, until now. In 24 hours I have had to reset my laptop at least 3 times. All I changed was the mouse.
Mac software is marketed to imply that it always 'just works'. Ive been using Logitech keyboards, mice, speakers, webcams, and other products with confidence for more than 8 years and recommended them to friends and family as well because they are high quality products and they always work. I had read about the VX Nano about a month ago for the first time and knew it would be the perfect mouse to accompany my new notebook. In my home country, The Netherlands, where I was on holiday just until the mouse was launched there this summer, the price is around 51 euro's, or 550 HKD. When I saw the nano in stores in Hong Kong on saturday, the price was around 700 HKD. I bought it for 650HKD, because I expected it to be worth it.
I love the mouse, I love the nano receiver and I love all of it's features. However, the quality of the software required to use all of the features to the max is completely unacceptable. I have noticed other users experience kernel panics as well, especially when waking from sleep mode. When I paid a premium price for a premium product that is said to be compatible with Mac OS, and even shows a Macbook Pro in a promotional video, I expect it to work normally, let alone crash my computer almost every time I wake it up from sleep mode! I use my notebook at school, and teachers often require that the notebooks are closed while they are speaking. Your crummy software would force me to reboot multiple times a lesson or ever lose my work if I forget to save, which is highly unproductive and defeats the purpose of using my laptop in lessons.
Because of these severe issues I cannot use many of my new mouse's features. I hope there will be a workaround or software update to fix these problems very soon or I will have to return the mouse and warn my friends. This year, all students in my school are getting Apple Macbooks for school. That's 1300 potential customers who would all want that cool new mouse I got if I showed it them. I will not pay 650HKD for a mouse that doesn't even have proper software, and neither will they when they hear about it. Even a Microsoft mouse wouldnt cause kernel panics like this on a mac."
next rant: why microsoft should replace my scratched x360 games. coming soon.

A nice long email, but I've found that tech support rarely ever bothers reading them.
I find that a "YOUR MOUSE SUCKS" kinda reply works best. Make sure you stick that at the top, then explain why below - it really grabs their attention :P
