Lol, many things in real life don't have "happy" endings, in fact, compromised conclusions are very common in life.  I would actually say that the ending of this anime is quite optimistic - for example, the characters quickly mature/devlop to understand the situation

First two eps are kinda lame romance, but it sets up the scene.  Could've been better done ("ooh, I love him, but I'm too scared" blah blah  « very lame IMO)

Sure, I appreciate that, BUT, it did seem that Haruka was left in the dark. They Could of played it on for a couple more eps. Or an OVA even.

RE: Kimi ga Nozomu Eien
Oh, so you're a Haruka supporter...

No, the story really couldn't have continued further IMO.  It needs an end, and if it kept going on and on, would rather be over-stretched, boring/repetitive, unrealistic and lame (like Elfen Lied).

People do get left behind in those situations.  May be unfair, but that's life.
Which brings us to one of KgNE's debates - what would be considered ethical in that situation?  To me, the ending is fairly optimistic.
By the way, that's another point debated in the show - bias.  Each character has their own, usually over-simplified, view of the situation.  Even the girl that works in the shop had a warped, but interesting, view on the situation.  What's most amazing is how they managed to also capture the viewer's viewpoint.  For example, the switch of events between two of the episodes (I will not mention which) shows how powerful selection of information can truly be.
If you haven't realised yet, the above mirrors the media - many people will have different viewpoints on an issue.  But the journalists always have their bias on things, despite how objective they try to be, and will usually select and organize information which shows their viewpoint.  I used to know that journalists have control over how people see things, but I also believed that they could only really give "suggestions" and rather have little control over what people think.  However, the examples shown in this show surprised me at how powerful omitting information can be.  The story is biased towards one end.  However, I sometimes really wonder what has been omitted from the story...

Of course, the fact that they've managed to keep all that subtle, under an excellent drama story, shows that this is truly an amazing piece of work.

Overall, my interpretation is this: (pretty much obtained from the first two eps).
Haruka is rather shy and weak (and not exactly smart).  Mitsuki is not shy, tries to be exemplary but still weak inside.  To me, Mitsuki is really a better match with Takayuki.  Haruka's relationship with him was more "passionate" and less "substance".

I'm gonna watch Ep1 tonight!

OR 40MB in h.264 which actually looks alright.

RMVB is old technology. Like mp3 and avi. They should start switching already. Seriously, h264 does better than realmedia at small size compression (and all other sizes too).

Anyways, i just finished watching this series. It's pretty good.

ZiNgA BuRgA Wrote:It's a short series (14 episodes) and I recommend it to anyone looking for a drama Tongue

Anyone mature. Children shouldn't watch this. Both because they won't understand, and thus won't enjoy it, and it has sex in it (not graphic though).

Umm... actually, Elfen lied probably needs to continue a bit more, like to answer all these unanswered things it left. Elfen Lied isn't exactly lame, just full of flaws.

Journalists do have quite a bit of control. They can completely warp something to their liking, overexagerate on the bad stuff, completely ommit the good stuff and reasons for doing the bad stuff, and make something sound completely different from what it really is. And in history past, they have done so many times.

Think this: one of the main issues that secured John Howards victory in one of the elections is the "children overboard" incident, when he claimed that asylum seekers are thowing children overboard, and they are evil people smugglers, and claims that they are all cruel and heartless (maybe children don't fetch money when smuggled?) people, in a bid to support his anti-asylum seeker stance, and that had a drastic effect on the votes, and was thought as one of the causes of his win. It actually turned out that nothing like that ever happened, and that he knew the truth all along. But though his "lie", it completely changed many people's views of refugees. That lie was a work of art, even afterwards, he just brushed it off and blamed one of his underlings. John Howard has THE skills in controlling what people think, skills that the opposition can't come close to, thus their loss. But seems like Johnny is going to loose it this time, unless he pulls some poo poo out of nowhere like the last two times. (He should've lost 6 years ago)

Someone picture he got his hands on, which was supposedly taken during a rescue opperation -» Evil, cruel asylum seekers who are actually people smugglers who have no human values and throw children into the water to die for their own wicked purposes. That's a work of art, from a master of an extremely powerful skill.

I thought the ending was alright. It seemed like hell is going to freeze over in the last few episodes, but worked out pretty nicely in the end.

No, I meant boring and repetitive aspect of Elfen Lied.  It leaves some things unanswered, but they probably wanted that effect.
Back to repetition: after the beginning, there'll be some sad sob story of some girl, winds up at the house.  After being accepted, there's another sad sob story, then after that, another sad sob story, followed by guess what?  Oh, and the main plot should become very obvious - it's just a sad sob story about the main girl of the story...

I'm sure everyone who's done senior English are aware of it, but this is probably the strongest example I've ever seen.
